Area of production | AOC Gaillac |
---|---|
Soil and climate | The vines are planted on a plateau corresponding to the 2° terrace of the Tarn river. The Domaine Rotier Terroir is composed of very nice gravelly soils. |
Grape varieties | 50% Duras, 25% Braucol, 25% Syrah |
Climate conditions | In 2020, the mild winter preceded a sunny spring at the beginning, which was more watery afterwards. Flowering took place at the end of May in fine weather. After a rainy period at the beginning of June, the summer was hot and very dry. The harvest therefore took place in excellent conditions with a perfect grapes quality from 1st to 16th September. |
Type of winemaking | Grapes fermented in old oak barrels and tanks, without sulfur, at 18/20°C, in order to preserve their aromatic qualities. |
Type of ageing | Maturation in tanks, without sulfur, preserves fruity flavour. Bottling, allways without sulfite, occured on December 2nd 2020. |
Tasting notes | This wine develops aromas of red fruit (stawberries and raspberries), completed by blackcurrants and spices. It is charming and well balanced on the palate and expresses a very fruity finish. |
Food recommandation | It should be served around 8°C. It will be an excellent aperitif, and will match with delicatessen and summer's salads or grilled meats. |
