Soil and climate | The vines are planted on a plateau corresponding to the 2° terrace of the Tarn river. The Domaine Rotier Terroir is composed of very nice gravelly soils. |
Grape varieties | 45% Duras, 20% Syrah, 15% Braucol, 15% Prunelart, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon |
Climate conditions | 2019 climate was very contrasted. January was wet, February and March dry. Spring was fresh and rainy and Summer began very hot. Some important storms in July limited drought. This Summer allowed a good grapes maturation and the harvest occured between September 13th and October 8th in excellent conditions. |
Type of winemaking | The different grapes ferment separately at 28 - 30°C. Maceration lasts from 3 to 5 weeks, with micro-oxygenation of the wine under the cap. |
Type of ageing | Aged for 20 months in tanks and old barrels. Bottling occured on 2021 May 4th and 5th. |
Tasting notes | The colour is dark purple. In its youth, this wine presents aromas of black fruit, mingling with notes of liquorice and pepper. On the palate, it is a fruity, fleshy wine, with firm but gentle tannins. |
Food recommandation | It should be served between 16 and 18°C and matches particularly well with the typical dishes of the Southwest : cassoulet, duck as well as grilled red meats. It may be cellared for 8-10 years. |
