Soil and climate | The vines are planted on a plateau corresponding to the 2nd terrace of the Tarn river. The Domaine Rotier terroir is composed of very nice gravelly soils. |
Grape varieties | 100% Duras |
Climate conditions | 2010 was one of the dryer and the coolest year (in average temperatures) of the last twelve years. After a cold Winter and beautiful month of April, a cool Spring, Summer was very dry, with some hot days at the end of August which rapidly dried some Duras grapes. These grapes were harvested on August 30th and September 13th. |
Type of winemaking | Fermentation in tank at 25°C to preserve fruity notes. Addition of alcohol to stop yeasts activity and fifteen days maceration. |
Type of ageing | Twenty one mounths in old barrels. No sulfites added. Bottled on July 13th 2012. |
Tasting notes | Beautiful dark purple wine with cherrys and black fruits aromas. On the palate, it's a subtle balance between tanins strength and sweetness (135 g/l suggar), alcohol strength and fruit freshness. |
Food recommandation | Excellent as aperitif, it will match with a lot of cheeses and desserts (red or black fruits, chocolate). |
