Soil and climate | The vines are planted on a plateau corresponding to the 2° terrace of the Tarn river. The Domaine Rotier Terroir is composed of very nice gravelly soils. |
Grape varieties | 50% Duras, 10% Syrah, 25% Braucol, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon |
Climate conditions | In 2020, the mild winter preceded a sunny spring at the beginning, which was more watery afterwards. Flowering took place at the end of May in fine weather. After a rainy period at the beginning of June, the summer was hot and very dry. The harvest therefore took place in excellent conditions with a perfect grapes quality from August 25th to September 29th. |
Type of winemaking | The different grapes ferment separately at 28 - 30°C. Maceration lasts from 3 to 5 weeks. |
Type of ageing | Aged for 20 months in tanks and old barrels. Bottling occured on 2022 April 28th and 29th. |
Tasting notes | The colour is dark purple. In its youth, this wine presents aromas of black fruit, mingling with notes of liquorice and pepper. On the palate, it is a fruity, fleshy wine, with firm but gentle tannins. |
Food recommandation | It should be served between 16 and 18°C and matches particularly well with the typical dishes of the Southwest : cassoulet, duck as well as grilled red meats. It may be cellared for 8-10 years. |
